We are a social network for urban ministries in Newark NJ focused on actualizing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through incarnational living. We invite you to join us in announcing the Kingdom of God through living your life, spending your time, and using your resources for the Glory of God and the healing and redemption of our city. This is a place to connect for those living in Newark,those that come to Newark on mission trips, and those who live around Newark who want to be involved in serving the poor, broken and marginalized of New Jersey’s largest city.
What does it do?
Spendyourself.org exists to empower “The Church” to effectively grow, go, and give as we seek to announce the Kingdom of God to our communities here in Newark. It is designed (and being designed) to assist gospel-centered churches, organizations and individuals who have a passion for the supremacy of Jesus Christ to effectively network. The concept is for Christians who are serious about the Luke 9:23 challenge that Jesus gave his people; the challenge to gain true life and actualize the Kingdom of God through losing yourself and existing for God’s Glory and the joy of others instead of selfish endeavors.
How?
It is really simple. Utilizing the social networking technology of the day, ministries, donors, missionaries, and individuals can stay connected and effectively network to reach Newark. Mission trip opportunities, blogs, videos, sermons ministry needs, church plants etc. are all fed into the site by the host agencies who can create and manage their own groups on the site, similar to Facebook. Individuals and other ministries can network for mission trips, internships, trainings, conferences, online giving, or just to have a good resource for hearing sermons and stories about what God is doing in Newark as we “spend ourselves” on the hungry as Isaiah 58 talks about and watch the healing happen.
